Family of liars reviews5/9/2023 ![]() and it didn’t help that it happened so early in the novel, so there was little emotional impact. Like we didn’t get to read about her finding out, about the funeral etc. My problem was more with the fact that whenever something terrible happened, it was kinda glossed over and happened really quickly, like when her little sister Rosemary died. There was some good writing, and unlike a lot of people, I didn’t mind the fractured prose or the fairytales. I thought the only complex characters were the three sisters, everybody else was really one-dimensional, especially Pfeff. Maybe because I didn’t care about the person who died. Having loved the twist at the end of We Were Liars, I expected something similar, but the big twist in this one kind of fell flat. I must admit I found Family of Liars a little underwhelming. ![]() ![]() ![]() I read it at least 5 years ago and remember being absolutely blown away by the big reveal, but I was like 15 at the time, so I was curious to see if I would enjoy the author’s style now that I’m older. ![]() I know We Were Liars is a divisive book, so I guess the prequel will be, too. I finished the prequel to We Were Liars the other day. ![]()
